SEO Press Formula is a new product released to the world on November 4th 2008. It is written by
Brian Johnson, and priced at $57.

What is SEO Press Formula (SEOPressFormula)?
It is a package of videos and an ebook, covering making money online, niche selection and SEO (search engine optimisation).
As he puts it in SEO Press Formula:
“Seo Press Formula is about creating lasting, content rich websites that search engines love by using the latest web technologies. It is not so much about wordpress, rather it is about how you want to organize your pages, the site navigation, understanding the power of keyword phrases, how to structure your meta descriptions and so on. It is about using my site launch formula that time and time again has produced fantastic results, applying these techniques and your sites will also achieve the types of results your after. Wordpress is simply the vehicle we use to achieve the desired results (and we will talk quite a bit about understand what results were after and how to achieve them in the coming pages).”
Firstly, the ebook (writing this first as the videos are still downloading!). It is just over 70 pages (and not double spaced or anything). Quite a long read (but not as long as other ebooks which sometimes get to something like 300-odd pages). But, the main part of SEO Press Formula are of course the videos.
The writing style is quite informal, and even though I had a pre-release version there were some spelling mistakes here and there (this may be changed for the final version). It doesn’t really matter, as you aren’t buying a novel - but a step by step formula to make money. But still, grammar nazis will find a few faults with it…
Anyway… on to the real subject. The review of SEO Press Formula (SEOPressFormula).
The ebook starts with an introduction of how he got into web development/seo/making a living on the internet. (I’ll give you a hint: it started with frontpage 97!). Then there is an introduction to get you up to speed with blog “lingo” - only complete newbies would have to read this section to be honest.
Then he starts to cover the basics of blogs, hosting etc. . In this section he does link to other products/services (such as affiliate links to Hostgators web hosting) [[ talking of hosting - buy through my link and i'll buy you free hosting. See bottom of this post ]]. To be fair, he does link to genuinely good products/services, and does mention that the links are affiliate links.
Then the next section of the ebook is just an overview of each of the videos (paragraph per vid).
The last few sections contain some quite detailed information about keyword selecting, Internet marketers publishing mindsets, easy links and rankings, web2.0 traffic, super marketing tools/scripts, and how to leverage the power of others.
There is no transcript or anything (which I personally find a little annoying. I can read a lot faster than videos can be… )
So onto the main part of SEO Press Formula : the videos
There are 29 videos, totalling 8hrs. A lot of work has gone into making all of these. Another gripe I have with SEO press formula is that they are all flash videos - that can only be watched in your web browser. Which means it is easy to watch (just double click. No installing extra programs (assuming you have flash on your browser)). but of course this also means no watching the videos on your ipod or other media device. But it isn’t too much of a problem.

Which, as you can see, is a pretty comprehensive “course”. The videos are all (camtasia) screen recordings - so you can see the exact steps/pages/options/code/etc that he is talking about.
They are quite detailed, but obviously aimed at the newbie. It covers everything with him doing it step by step in the videos too (as well as explaining it), so it is perfect if you are a complete newbie.
The course is not for the non newbie. Although you will learn new bits and have his formula, a lot of it is very basic (eg, how to install wordpress). But then - this is coming from me, an expert php/html/css developer - and I am obviously not the target audience.
I get asked quite often “so, tell me how you make money on the internet”. Although I tell them, it normally goes straight over their heads. For those (rare) times they want a piece of the cake and get into Internet marketing I will definitely be showing them these videos.
